When I was working for ChargePoint, I designed a set of CIBs (CIB – Common Interface Board) for allowing rapid development of test fixtures. ChargePoints internal projects had animal names, generally birds or big cats depending on the product line type.
This allowed for other products and projects to have other names, for the CIB ideas I stole the Cephalopod1 name space.
The testers were built around an externally supplied custom bed of nails tester, In the UK these were supplied by Ignys. With most of the switching and electronics interface housed in the base pan of the fixture and connected externally via rear panel connectors to external equipment. The rear panel connectors were chosen to eliminate or reduce the possibility of incorrect connection to external equipment (Poka-yoke).
A nominal list for external equipment is
- Main PSU – 60 V 5 A KA6005P
- Aux PSU – 30 V 5 A KA3005P
- Keysight Technologies DAQ970A Data Acquisition System
- Electronic Load – 300 W KEL103
I will cover more of the CIBs later, however, I will cover the breakout for the LabJack T7 first. This one is called Flapjack Octopus.
Flapjack Octopus — Labjack T7 Breakout CIB
This is a breakout PCB for a Labjack T7, with 2.5 mm pitch screw headers to allow for quick wiring to the breakout PCB.
This one is called the Flapjack Octopus.
- Digital IO ports are 5 V tolerant, there is no additional protection on the PCB.
- Digital IO on ports C, E, F and M each have an LED that illuminates when 5V DC is applied
- Digital IO port F is also set up as eight relay outputs, allowing up to eight 12/24 V (separate power supply required) to be driven from the T7 Labjack
- Analogue in ports are taken via a potential divider to allow per-scaling if required.
- Additional terminals are available for 5V and Ground, as well as other pins, these are on the lower edge.
