Most of the stuff you will need to do the electronic projects I do on this site can be got by going to Amazon (I have affiliate links), I know I have mentioned the Oomlout Starter Kit for Arduino, However I fear that this is discontinued 🙁
The Oomlout Starter kit contains:
- 5mm Red LEDs (x10)
- 5mm Green LEDs (x10)
- 10mm Red LED (x1)
- Toy Motor (x1)
- Mini Servo Motor (x1)
- 8-Bit Shift Register (74HC595) (x1)
- Piezo Element (x1) (buzzer)
- Pushbuttons (x2)
- Potentiometer (10k) (x1)
- Photo Resistor (x1)
- Temperature Sensor (TMP36) (x1)
- Relay (5v DPDT) (x1)
- Transistors (2N222A) (x2)
- Resistors (560 Ohm x25, 2.2k Ohm x3, 10k Ohm x3)
- Diodes (1N4001) (x2)
A load of LEDs can be found in a Kit of 200 LEDs in five colours, you may also want Kit of 20 x 10 mm LEDs in four colours, The other way to get most of the components is to pick up a cheap starter kit of parts like this one or this one with an cheap Chinese Arduino Clone.
CamJam
At some point soon I will also start working through the CamJam kits on a RaspberryPi; the parts required are the same as above with a few additions:
- Immersible temperature Sensor
- PIR (Passive Infrared) Sensor
- LDR (Light Dependent Resistor)
- A custom-designed, pre-soldered motor controller board (with screw terminals)
- An ultrasonic distance sensor (for detecting objects in front of your robot)
- A line follower sensor (for detecting and following black lines)
In week 2.5 I used a 555 Timer, these can be got from Farnell, or Amazon (x 10)
Other useful things
- A number of solder less breadboards
- Few capacitors (ceramic and electrolytic capacitors)
- Soldering iron with soldering wire
- LCD display for Arduino
- TM 1637 module
- DHT11 / DHT22module
- A cheap multimeter
